Contemporary ceiling fans are a great way to
enhance the beauty of any room in your home as well as help you
save on energy bills. These fans come in a variety of styles,
designs and looks that will allow you to match the fan with
your room's décor easily and simply.
How Ceiling Fans Help To Save Energy
Most people know that ceiling fans can help to
keep your room cool and cut down on the amount of use you
put into the air conditioner, thus saving you money in the
summer time. But, did you know that ceiling fans can also help
save on your winter heating bills as well? Think back to your
elementary science class and how you learned that when air
warms it rises. This means that when your furnace or wood stove
produces heat it rises to your ceiling. Having a contemporary
ceiling fan turned on low will push that warm air back down
where you are, thus reducing the amount of heat it will take to
help keep you warm as you won't be heating the ceiling first
and then continue heating downward.
While your ceiling fan does need electricity to run, the cost
of running the fan is much smaller than the extra energy it
takes to run your air conditioner or furnace on high for long
periods of time. Depending on the climate you live in and the
temperature you need to keep your home comfortable, a ceiling
fan could save you money over the year.
Ceiling Fans Easily Fit With Almost Any
Décor
Contemporary ceiling fans come in a variety of
sizes. Blade lengths run from between 29 to 54 inches making it
possible to have a fan in almost any size room. They also come
in a variety of styles such as 3, 4 and 5 blade fans. Some fans
are combined with ceiling lighting, many can be run from a wall
switch or remote control. You can get fans that are made of
brushed nickel, wood such as maple and even some brushed copper
looking fans, as well as a variety of colors.
When choosing a contemporary ceiling fan you will want to make
sure that your room's height is sufficient to allow for a
ceiling fan. Homes with tall ceilings can benefit the most from
ceiling fans but, as long as your walls are tall enough to
allow plenty of clearance between you and the fan blades then a
ceiling fan can be beneficial to you.
You also want to make sure the fan width is designed for the
size of room you want to place the fan in. For example placing
a long bladed fan in a small room may create a bit more wind
than you want, while too small of a fan in a large room may
have little cooling effect for the room. If you are unsure of
which size of fan may be right for your room ask the store
clerk who is selling the fans, as they should be able to point
you in the right direction.
Contemporary ceiling fans are a great way to
save energy, help keep cool and enhance the look of your
home.
